DTMethod
DTMethod
Methodology of conducting of the Design Thinking,
processes is based on 3 pillars:
- DTModel, composed of 3 phases
- DTTools, around 20 tools fitted to DTModel
- DTRules&Roles, that is the rules (and roles) to follow applying DTMethod
DTModel
Creating a solution DTTeam will go through a structured process which consists of 3 phases
1. Exploration Phase
Learning about a background and origin of the Challenge.
Analysis of the stakeholders’ needs for a challenge and areas in which a solution will be created.
2. Creative Phase
Applying the most effective tools boosting creativity.
Analysis of generated ideas and choice of those with the biggest potential to solve the challenge.
3. Construction Phase
Creating prototypes of chosen ideas.
Improving the prototypes on the basis of stakeholders’ feedback – choosing the solution to implementation.
DTRules&Roles
Focus on people
Designed solutions are to help the stakeholders and the solutions are to cover their needs.
Team involvement
Designers are to have (time and physical) space to design.
Evidence-based approach
You are supposed to act on the basis of confirmed knowledge and not on the intuition and beliefs.
Stepwise approach
You are to go through each phase in the DTModel.
Iterative approach
For better results of Design Thinking process, some actions should be repeated several times.
Active approach
We assume a quick and dynamic action throughout the whole DT process.
Learning approach
Each success and each failure are values which allow to draw conclusions thanks to which the team will develop the best solution.
DTRules&Roles
DTSponsor
Identifies the challenge and receives the outcome of the team’s work.
DTDesigner
The member of the team responsible for solution developing.
DTFacilitator
DTMethod expert who leads the team through the whole process.
DTCoordinator
He/she ensures that meetings are all in the logistics.
DTMethod: Online meetings
Carrying the stakeholders research
1st meeting
The challenge description.
Planning the stakeholders research.
2nd meeting
Analysis of stakeholders’ research and discussion of the conclusions that are reached.
Generating ideas for solutions.
Testing prototypes
and collecting feedback
3rd meeting
Analysis of ideas generated during the previous meeting.
Choosing ideas to prototype and creating prototypes.
4th meeting
Discussion of tests conclusions and preparing a description of the Solution for DTSponsor.
Ending the DTMethod process.
In an offline version the whole process is covered within 3 meetings.
