How can Design Thinking be used to identify areas of improvement?

The Design Thinking Methodology – DTMethod – is the effect of over 2 years’ hard work of the Inprogress Design Lab team in cooperation with scientists and workers of the Krakow University of Technology. It wouldn’t be created if the business world weren’t eager to cooperate, either. Today we would like to tell you about the role of HL Tech in the creation of DTMethod.

HL Tech is a modern technology center which belongs to a British company called Hargreaves Lansdown. Its mission is delivering safe software which facilitates investors in performing financial operations.

Daily work on creating cutting-edge tech solutions naturally creates a culture where innovative approach in various business areas is appreciated. HL Tech is also an organization which puts its employees’ needs in top position.

The joint DTMethod process began in June, 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. Everyone worked remotely so the Design Thinking Process implementation needed to be adjusted to suit these conditions. But how to carry out a process based on constant cooperation and communication when people were located in various places.

Thanks to HL Tech we answered 2 crucial questions:

  • Does DTMethod work in a business environment?
  • Can DTMethod be carried out online without loss of quality on the created solutions?

The answer to those questions is: YES and YES!

HL Tech chose its goal in the DTMethod process as:

  • Identify process where change was required in areas such as recruitment and improvement in the area of IT project realization
  • Create a pool of ideas to help HL Tech in development within the marked areas
  • Prepare prototypes of solutions which would have the potential for implementation

Did it work? You’ll find the answer to that question in our case study.
